Celebrating the Best Kitchen Award with Concrete at the Forefront

We’re proud to share our work on the Two Paddocks project, a standout home that recently took home the award for QLD Best Kitchen 2025. Our team collaborated closely with the builder and design team to bring a refined, functional and truly unique kitchen to life - with concrete as the hero material.

The Brief

The vision for this home was clear: create a bold yet timeless interior where concrete could act as both a statement feature and a practical solution. The kitchen was always intended to be the centrepiece, but our scope extended throughout the house, allowing us to showcase concrete’s adaptability across multiple applications.

Our Solution

Edje Concrete was engaged to design, craft and install a series of custom pieces that gave Two Paddocks its award-winning edge:

• Kitchen Island Bench: A statement island with a custom trowel finish and pitted feature panel, designed to draw the eye and anchor the space.

• Concrete Benches & Surfaces: Functional yet beautiful, offering durability for everyday living with a tactile, handcrafted finish.

• Fireplace Hearth & Feature Panel: A dramatic focal point in the living area, pairing warmth with the raw elegance of concrete.

• Concrete Plinths for Candles: Sculptural accents that added a unique, personalised touch.

• Butler’s Pantry: Seamless concrete surfaces for a practical yet refined secondary kitchen space.

• Window Sills: Clean, minimal detailing that tied the home’s finishes together with subtle consistency.

Each element was made using our GFRC concrete process, achieving strength, fine detailing and a premium finish without unnecessary weight.

The Result

The completed home demonstrates how concrete can transform a project from standard to standout. The kitchen, named Best Kitchen Winner, is a bold statement in craftsmanship and design - but equally, the fireplace, pantry and finishing details showcase the material’s versatility across the whole residence.

Concrete became the unifying thread that balanced practicality with timeless appeal, ensuring every space felt elevated yet liveable.
