How We Work

Edje Concrete  |  edjeconcrete.com.au

Last updated: 2026

We make handcrafted concrete pieces for people who love good design. Every benchtop, basin, vanity, hearth and table that leaves our workshop is made by hand, to order, just for you. We want the whole process — from your first enquiry through to installation — to feel easy and enjoyable. This page explains how we work so you know what to expect.

Every Piece is One of a Kind

Concrete is a natural material, and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful. No two pieces are ever identical — and we think that’s something to celebrate, not something to worry about.

Colour, texture and surface character will vary slightly from the samples you’ve seen. That’s just the nature of working with a handcrafted material — your finished piece will be close to your sample, but it will also be completely its own thing. Small pinholes and surface marks are a normal part of concrete and add to its character. If you’ve chosen a darker colour, you may also notice fine glass fibres near the surface — these are part of how GFRC is made and are completely normal.

We always recommend ordering a sample before committing to a colour, so you can see and feel it in your own space. If you’re ever unsure, just ask us — we’re happy to help you choose.

Getting Your Quote

Every quote is based on your specific project. We’ll usually want to do a site measure before we finalise anything — this makes sure everything fits perfectly and there are no surprises. Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Once you’re happy with your quote and ready to go ahead, we confirm your colour and finish selections, lock in your deposit, and get you into our production schedule. Lead time is approximately 4–6 weeks from approval — we’ll keep you in the loop along the way.

Custom Orders & Cancellations

Because everything we make is custom and made to order, we can’t accept cancellations once production has started. We’d always encourage you to take your time choosing — we’re not in a rush, and we’d much rather you feel completely confident before we begin.

If something comes up and you need to make changes, reach out as early as possible and we’ll do our best to help.

Looking After Your Concrete

All our pieces are sealed before they leave the workshop. Concrete is a beautiful material but it does need a little love — we’ll send you our Care & Maintenance Guide with every order. Following it will keep your piece looking great for years to come.

A few things to keep in mind: concrete can be affected by harsh cleaning products, heavy impact, heat, and prolonged exposure to moisture. Hairline cracks can develop naturally over time — this is normal for concrete and doesn’t affect the structure or function of your piece.

Delivery & Installation

We deliver and install across the region. Our quotes assume clear, level access to site — if there are stairs, tight corridors, lifts or anything else we should know about, just let us know upfront so we can factor it in.

Once your piece has left our workshop or been installed, we’re not responsible for damage caused by other trades on site — so if you’ve got a busy worksite, it’s worth making sure it’s protected.

Fireplaces & High Heat

If you’re ordering a hearth or any piece that’ll be near a fireplace or high heat source, just know that concrete can develop small cracks in response to heat over time. This is a natural characteristic of the material and isn’t something we’re able to warranty against. We’ll always chat through what’s needed to support and protect your piece properly.

The Fine Print

For full Terms and Conditions — including detailed payment schedules, trade and builder terms, variation conditions and warranty information — these are included with every quote we send. You can also request a copy any time by getting in touch with us.

By accepting a quote or proceeding with an order, you agree to our full Terms and Conditions. Our Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
